REBECCA L. HARGROVE recently completed a Southeast tour with the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, starring as Yum-Yum in The Mikado. She previously starred in the Baltimore Center Stage production of Our Town as Mrs. Webb and in Berkshire Theater Group’s world premiere of Tara Wilson-Noth’s play, B.R.O.K.E.N Code B.I.R.D Switching as Katherine Morgan. Other notable productions include In the Parlour (National Black Theater), Evita and Cabin in the Sky (City Center Encores!), Aqcuanetta (Bard Summerscape), The Garden of the Finzi-Contini (NYCO | National Yiddish Theater Folksbiene), and the world premiere of The Grey Land one woman-opera by Joseph C. Phillips, which is available on all streaming platforms.

 

 

Ms. Hargrove’s ravishing Acquanetta (“I am your beautiful monster,” she sings) is both mistress and captive of the close-ups in which she is usually framed.

For the past two seasons, Rebecca has joined The Metropolitan Opera Chorus in their productions of Die Meistersinger (Wagner), Fire Shut up in My Bones (Blanchard), and Porgy & Bess (Gershwin). She is a two-time Grammy Award winner for ‘Best Opera Album’ for her participation in both Porgy & Bess and Fire shut up in My Bones. She can currently be heard on Terence Blanchard’s film score soundtrack for The Woman King as part of the Vox Noire ensemble. In concert, Rebecca has performed at Carnegie Hall, The John F. Kennedy Center, David Geffen Hall, and 54 Below. 

Her Television and Film credits include “Dear Edward” (Apple Tv+), “For Life” (ABC), “The Wilsons” pilot starring Reggie Hayes (UPN’s “Girlfriends”), “House of Cards” (Netflix), “Random Acts of Flyness” (HBO), “My Asian Auntie” (Amazon Prime), “The Fix” (Short Film), “Jesus Saves!” (Feature Film), and “Single Record” (Revry).

As one half of KSRH Productions, Rebecca along with fellow actress and friend Kedren Spencer looks forward to the 2023 release of their first short film, “Last Call.” Together the pair co-wrote, produced, starred in, and directed the film during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is KSRH’s mission to produce quality television and film content that shows the multifaceted and authentically Black experience through the lens of love, joy, and positivity.
