Rebecca L. Hargrove is an actress, singer, and model. She was most recently seen in The New York Times critic’s pick show Acquanetta at Bard Summerscape directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Fish. For her role of Acquanetta, Ben Brantley of The New York Times noted, “Ms. Hargrove’s ravishing Acquanetta is both mistress and captive of the close-ups in which she is usually framed.” Rebecca’s previous engagements this season include her Carnegie Hall debut in Two Wings: The Music of Black America in Migration with Jason Moran and Alicia Hall Moran, the role of Nellie Quander in In the Parlour a one-act play by Judy Tate at the National Black Theater, and a national tour of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado as Peep-Bo with the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players. This fall Rebecca looks forward to joining the company of the Metropolitan Opera’s 2019/2020 production of Porgy and Bess.
Last season Rebecca performed the role of The Mother in the world premiere of Joseph C. Phillips’s mono-opera The Grey Land. She has also been featured in production at New York City Center Encores!, New York City Opera, Spoleto Festival USA, David Geffen Hall, The John F. Kennedy Center, The Tonight Show, and Madison Square Garden.
