Rebecca L. Hargrove is an actress, soprano, and model. She most recently made her Carnegie Hall Debut in Two Wings: The Music of Black America in Migration with Jason Moran and Alicia Hall-Moran and performed the role of Peep-Bo in the NYGASP National Tour of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado. This Summer she can be seen at The National Black Theater as Nellie Quander in Judy Tate’s play In the Parlour, at The Darien Arts Center as The General in Joel A. Martin’s HipOpera, and at Bard Summerscape as the titular role in Michael Gordon’s latest opera Acquanetta directed by Tony Nominee Daniel Fish. This Fall she looks forward to joining the company of the Metropolitan Opera’s 2019/2020 production of Porgy and Bess. Last season Rebecca performed the role of The Mother in the world premiere of Joseph C. Phillips’s mono-opera, The Grey Land with Numinous Music.

Previous engagements include New York City Opera, New York City Center Encores!, Spoleto Festival USA, David Geffen Hall, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Madison Square Garden, The Garden State Philharmonic, and the John F. Kennedy Center. She has received distinguished awards from the National Young Arts Foundation, Opera Ebony, The NSAL Shirley Rabb Winston Vocal Competition, and The Ebony Classical Singer's Competition.
